On 5 June, acting Consul General Tong Defa was invited to attend a business briefing session by Western Cape Government, joined by Mr Gerrit van Rensburg, MEC for Agriculture, Mr Nils Flaatten, CEO of Western Cape Trade and Investment Agency and a business delegation that will be travelling to China's Shangdong and Beijing on a wine promotion tour soon.
In his remarks, Mr Tong expressed well wishes to the delegation and briefed on the development of China - South African economic relations and the cooperations between Shangdong and Western Cape. He also pointed out that there are tremendous potential and opportunities for bilateral cooperations between the two countries as China is implementing its 12th Five Year Plan. He welcomes further exchanges between Western Cape and China that is mutually beneficial and conducive to the promotion of China - South African relationship.
