Alderman Ian Neilson, Executive Deputy Mayor of Cape Town sent a letter of thanks to Consul General Kang Yong for Chinese community’s contribution in helping the affected residents in Imizamo Yethu fire. The full text is as follows:

 

Consul General Kang Yong,

Thank you very much for your letter dated 15 March 2017.

We greatly appreciate your words of sympathy concerning the fire in Imizamo Yethu.

The circumstances were certainly dire, and all assistance that has been received is greatly appreciated, and the City is pleased to acknowledge the contribution of the Chinese Community.

We are also pleased that the community is now participating in the Cape Town Carnival. That demonstrates the unity in diversity of our city community.
