From Dec 9th to Dec 12th, a Chinese teacher-training group organized by Chinese Overseas Exchange Association visited Cape Town. The members of the group included Mrs. Ji Hong, director of the Chinese Overseas Exchange Association, Mrs. Liu Yuanman, vice professor of the International College for Chinese Studies of Peking University, Mrs. He Yanru, teacher of the Ethnic Unity Primary School of Beijing Municipality.

In the afternoon of Dec 10th, the group provided training courses for some of the Chinese teachers in Cape Town on the promotion of Chinese Pingying and Simplified Chinese Characters, and exchanged experiences on handling the difficulties faced when teaching Chinese abroad. The visitors thought highly of the achievements of the Chinese teaching made in Cape Town, and expressed their adorations to the continuous persistence of the local Chinese teachers for the promotion of the Chinese language and Chinese culture. The training group donated some relative textbooks and references materials to the training course participants issuing the training certificates. 13 local Chinese teachers participated the training course.
