1. Q: Do I need an appointment to submit an application?

A: It is not necessary to make appointment on visa or passport applications.

 

2. Q: May I ask the Consulate General to fax an application form to me?

A: There are two ways to obtain an application form: You can download the application form directly from our web site; and we also provide the application forms in our visa office as well. Unfortunately, we do not provide the service of faxing application forms.

 

3. Q: Do I pay the application fee on submission?

A: Normally, passport and visa applications will only be charged on collection. However, passport application for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will be charged immediately on submission.

 

4. Q: Must I personally come to submit the application documents?

A: For visa and passport applications, please refer to the related Instruction of requirements. For normal visa applications and applications for Legalization, it is not necessary to submit personally by the applicant. However, for Notarization, passport-related applications and for travel document applications, applicant must submit the application form personally.

 

5. Q: Are there any extra charges, if I arrange a third party to submit the application for me?

A: The related fees would be charged according to the publicized national stipulations. The computer on the basis of the type and emergency of the application will calculate the fees automatically. No other fees would be charged except the publicized ones. Fees would be charged equally whether the application is submitted by the applicant or by the third party.

 

6. Q: What must I do if my passport has lost when someone submits the application for me?

A: The applicant must take his or her own risks on authorize someone to submit his or her application. It's a spontaneous action taken by the applicant to arrange a third party to submit the application; therefore, all the results aroused should be responsible by the applicant and the trustee.

 

7. Q: Can the Chinese Consulate recommend any reliable agents for application?

A: Unfortunately, the Consulate General could not recommend any agents or middleman.

 

8. Q: Why must I come personally to collect my visa, passport and processed document if I have lost the pick-up slip?

A: The pick-up slip is the only evident of the right to collect the visa, passport and processed document. In order to secure the applicant's right and privacy, collection without the pick-up slip would only be permitted when the applicant collects his or her personal document personally, presenting his or her identity document with photo.

 

9. Q: Can I still collect my visa, passport and processed document if I did not bring the supplementary documents, which were requested by the visa officer?

A: Visa and passport could only be claimed when all the required documents have been submitted.

 

10. Q: When I authorize a third party to collect my passport and the visa for me, if problems or a conflict arises between that person and me, what can I do then?

A: This is under the applicant's own will to authorize someone to collect his or her passport, therefore, any conflict arises should be settled by the applicant and the trustee.

 

11. Q: When may I collect my visa or passport?

A: The collection date would be mentioned on the pick-up slip, please collect the visa or passport on or after that date between our office hours, please don't inquire the collection date purposely. In some special case, if the collection date were not indicated on the pick-up slip, the visa officer would contact the applicant, and notify when the applicant could collect his or her passport or visa.

 

12. Q: Why the Chinese Consulate does not accept any postal applications?

A: The Consulate General shall not be responsible for any mishandling if the application is made by mail, therefore, the Consulate General would not accept any postal applications.

 

13. Q: Besides cash, does the Chinese Consulate accept payment in credit card, cheque, or any other formats of payment?

A: We only accept cash.

 

14. Q: What must I do if I found a mistake on my visa?

A: Please reflect the mistakes to the visa officer immediately.
