Grand musical Road to Revival makes debut
 

BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) The music and dance epic "Road to Revival" has premiered at the Great Hall of People in Beijing and attained instant success.

    The performance consists of 5 chapters covering more than 55 programs. It depicts the 169-year Chinese journey, from the Opium War in 1840, through the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China in 2009. It starts with a piece called "My Homeland" and goes on to describe the important revolutionary events in China's history. There will be a total of 13 performances and the show will run until October 5th. Tickets were not sold for commercial purpose.

    "Road To Revival" will be filmed and released for the upcoming National Day celebrations. China Central Television will rebroadcast the program on September 30th.

    "Road to Revival" director Zhang Jigang said, "I saw most of the audience crying during the show. Some of them also used mobile phone cameras to take pictures. I feel happy that so many audience members like it and confirm it."
