Consul General Kang Yong Met with the Executive Mayor of Cape Town

On 27 October 2015, Consul General Kang Yong met with Alderman Patricia de Lille, Executive Mayor of the City of Cape Town.

 

Mayor de Lille welcomed Mr Kang upon his assumption of duty. She reviewed the recent exchanges between Cape Town and related local governments in China, and the progress in investment and cooperation by Chinese enterprises in Cape Town. On the basis of her visit to China in September 2015, she looks forward to more mutual visits and follow-up cooperation with Chinese cities.

Consul General Kang Yong congratulated Mayor de Lille on her fruitful visit to China. Mr Kang viewed the establishment and development of friendly relationships between Cape Town and Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, as positive and beneficial for deepening exchanges in various fields including but not limited to economy, trade, tourism and culture, for which the Consulate General is ready to offer necessary support and assistance. Mr Kang expressed his hope to cooperate with Mayor de Lille to further promote the friendly relationship between China and Cape Town.

Consul General Kang Yong expressed his deep concerns over the recent two murder cases of Chinese citizens, and urged the City of Cape Town to assist in expediting the solution process and to take concrete measures to ensure the safety of the Chinese citizens. Mayor de Lille pledged to urge the police to step up efforts in solving the cases.
